Question 1

What do IR-blocking lenses actually do?

Accepted Answer

They block infrared wavelengths that many cameras and sensors use — especially at night and through ordinary sunglasses. To you they look like normal tint. To those systems, the eye area is effectively impossible to read.

Question 2

Will this stop facial recognition?

Accepted Answer

That is what they are for: many facial-recognition and low-light systems lean on infrared to see your eyes through tint. Blocking that channel makes an IR-based read effectively impossible and identification much harder. It does not make you unidentifiable in every setting. Facial recognition also uses visible light and other biometrics; lighting, distance, and the system matter. Dark IR lenses give more visible-light cover than light. This is not a guarantee due to continual advancements in technology.

Question 3

What's the difference between light and dark IR lenses?

Accepted Answer

Both block infrared. Light lenses are subtler for everyday and indoor wear, with less visible-light cover — facial recognition does not rely solely on infrared. Dark lenses give more shading for bright conditions as well as maximum protection.

Question 4

Do you offer polarized lenses?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. We are working to source polarized lenses and will offer them as an option when they are ready. Today you can order IR-blocking (light or dark) or frames with no lens.
